Dr Causon after studying Pharmacy and working in various branches diversified his studies into the Economics field, with post graduate studies with an MBA in Economics and Management from Nitra University Slovakia. This opened various avenues and for 4 years was the manager of the Europe Direct Mosta office of the European Commission DG Communications office. Working in European affairs for the past 12 years as consultant, coordinator and project manager for various companies and local councils in Malta, and in a number of European countries and non-European countries namely in Ireland, Spain, Brussels, Germany, France, Sweden, Slovakia, Palestine, Turkey, Tunisia and Norway on EU funding calls, being applicant and coordinator of 59 approved projects, local manager for 105 approved projects ranging from Leader+, FP6, Leonardo, Grundvig, Youth in Action, ERDF, EARDF and at present is managing a € 2.8Million LIFE+ project for the Ministry of sustainable development and climate change.
Mark is the Maltese government representative on the ‘Appel des Cents’ in the run up to the ‘Sommet des Deux Rives – Forum de la méditerranée’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malta.

Was an External Expert with the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), an advisor with the EUROPEAN COMMISSION DIRECTORATE-GENERAL COMMUNICATION- Pan-European Working Group “Management of daily activities of an EDIC and sits on the European cooperation in Science and technology COST- as the Maltese expert on Pathogen-Informed Strategies for Sustainable Broad-Spectrum Crop Resistance and Control of Human Pathogenic Microorganisms in Plant Production Systems
In March 2013, Mark was elected on the Pembroke Local council representing the Labour Party.
